Aliça Bryson-Haynes
Artist
I create site-specific installations that are an expanded form of painting. Materials such as paint, glitter, gold leaf, fruit, lentils, balloons and blankets are used to construct the work, which is situated both within the gallery context and the public domain. The qualities of these materials are altered through their unexpected placement, modification and repetition to elicit a sense of wonder and surprise.
Aliça Bryson Haynes is a multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kingston University, London, 2010; and a Master of Fine Arts from RMIT, 2013. Aliça has an individual arts practice as well as working in collaboration with In The Meantime Collective. Aliça has exhibited locally and internationally in galleries, ARIs and in the public domain. She was recently commissioned to create several site-specific works in Puebla, Mexico. In 2012 she received the MFA Graduating ADFAS Yarra Art Award, and in 2012 the MoreArt Best Outdoor Award and the Australia Council Artstart Grant.
