I'm a Polish-born photographer and visual artist, living in Australia since 2009. A resident of Ballarat for many years, I was heavily involved in volunteering in the art and multicultural communities. I'm currently based in Melbourne.
My work has been featured on The Block Show (St Kilda, 2019), The Design Files magazine (2015) and Better Homes & Gardens TV (2015) featuring a street art project called We R You Ballarat Faces. I have been the recipient of a number of grants and prizes, including Under the Floorboards artist residency award, finalist Bowness Photography Prize (2014), finalist Head On Portrait award (2023, 2014), multiple finalist and winner of Ballarat Art Foundation’s Eureka Art Award (2014), winner of CCP Leica Salon prize, and finalist of the Maggie Diaz Photography Prize.
My recent work focuses on long-exposure photographs of myself, dancing. Producing this series involved labour-intensive repetition of the body movement and wearing layers of colourful compositions. This kind of repetitive and physical effort required to create a photograph is a form of contemplation itself and it helps to increase the awareness of my body and mind. All the colours that I choose are connected to my emotions, the red and white Polish flag and historical Polish cultural motifs such as the monument to the Heroes of Warsaw, also known as the Warsaw Nike, in Greek mythology a goddess who personified victory.
I am currently an Artist-in-Residence at Gasworks Arts Parks in Melbourne undertaking a professional development opportunity. I welcome new commissions and collabs – please contact me to discuss your needs or visit my studio at Gasworks (by appointment).
