Amanda Tattam
Mosaic and mixed media artist
Amanda is a visual artist and writer with a passion for sustainability. She has been making indoor and outdoor mosaics, mixed media and textiles for over 20 years. Amanda runs community projects and beginners’ art and craft workshops. She is a mosaic tutor at Wyreena Community Art Centre in Croydon. Amanda believes everyone can tap into their creativity if they have the freedom and encouragement in the right environment.

Amanda uses discarded or donated items such as ceramics, glass, tiles, marble, plastic and other found, remnant materials that would otherwise be thrown away.

She believes that stories and memories are held in reused materials. By intentionally repurposing these items, their history lives on. The materials come together in unexpected ways and begin anew on reimagined surfaces. Amanda has a strong interest in the health benefits of creative activity and began her working life as a registered nurse before moving into journalism and communications.

Amanda has a Certificate IV in Visual Arts from Melbourne Polytechnic. Studying in Italy in 2017 also led to a deeper appreciation of classical mosaic techniques and styles. Amanda is a committee member of the Textile Art Community Art Space and a member of the Mosaic Association of Australia and New Zealand (MAANZ). She was Editor of the Mosaic Association’s national magazine between 2022 and 2025.

She has participated in a number of group exhibitions and her mosaic works have won awards in the MAANZ NSW and national exhibitions in 2018 and 2021.
