Patricia McCarthy-Henry
Fibre artist, knit designer, maker, educator
Inspired by my surroundings and experiences, I translate feelings and experiences through texture, relief, tactility and pattern. Using fibres fulfils my quest to express emotions in a visual way. The desire to use deadstock and reclaimed yarns, most often painstakingly unravelled from garment form, are realised in my work. My pieces are often abstract but tell a deeper story on closer inspection. Small details made from intricately hand manipulated machine knitted yarn make up a much larger visual feast.

In whatever form it takes knit has become a major part of my output in life. With extensive experience in the fashion industry and more recently as a textile designer maker and educator at RMIT, I now work fluidly between educational, commercial and artistic endeavours.
