Lene Kuhl Jakobsen
Ceramicist and artist
I grew up in Denmark where i completed a 4 year degree in ceramics. Working from a home studio I make both functional and sculptural pieces.
I attempt to enhance the shape of each piece by combining the decorative design elements with the saliny feel of the glaze. The tactile quality is an important aspect of my work as is the use of various surface textures.
Influences from my Scandinavian background and its culture of design traditions combined with inspiration from the Australian environment combine to provide me with new ideas.
I have taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Australia and overseas.
My work has been acquired for both public and private art collections and have won several awards.
