Petra Reece
Oil painter
My preferred medium is oil on canvas painting, however I also do charcoal drawing, printmaking (monotypes) and drypoint etching. My painting style would be considered 'realist'. I have twice won the Castlemaine Self Portrait prize and the Nillumbik prize, my work is now in their collection.
I was a participant in the 'Bushfire Australia' exhibition at the TarraWarra Museum of art in the Yarra Valley and had one of the paintings featured in The Age newspaper in 2010 by Dan Rule. I have been a finalist in many art prizes including the Fleurieu Art Prize and the John Leslie landscape prize.
I have been a full-time practicing artist for the last 30 or so years and have a Post Graduate in art and design.
My paintings mainly consist of still life and landscape but also figures and portraits I have had numerous solo exhibitions in both a Sydney Gallery, Eva Breuer and a Melbourne gallery, Catherine Asquith both are now closed. I currently show my work in Gallery 19 Karen in Queensland. www.19karen.com.au
