I find it hard to consider myself an artist due to my visual process being more technical than creative, and earning a living from editorial work which relies more on documenting than interpreting. I guess I prefer the term 'creative', as general and as maltreated as it sometimes is. I want to use my camera and whatever words I can muster, to tell stories about those people the history books will probably not ever mention. Everyone has a story worth preserving, and everyone's story is equally thrilling, tragic and funny, under the right light and with the right verbs. Even when they don't know it.
