RUSHDI ANWAR: BIOGRAPHY

Born in Halabja. Lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. He holds (MFA) in Fine Arts, RMIT University where he is a current candidate of PhD in the School of Art. He was awarded the Installation Zone, The Artist Project Contemporary Art Fair 2016, Toronto, Canada. Australia Council for the Arts in 2016, and the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) in 2013. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions including Kawasaki City Museum, Japan in 2014, the National Gallery Bangkok, Thailand in 2013, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum, Japan (2012), His installation, sculptures, painting, photo-painting, and video works often reflect on the socio-political issues of Kurdistan/the Middle East. Exploring complexity these issues through an investigation of form, material vocabularies and processes of making.
