Tai Platania
Contemporary Dancer
Tai Platania is a contemporary dancer and a resident of Banyule. Trained at the Victorian College of the Arts under the University of Melbourne, Tai is currently completing her last semester of her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. Tai has performance experience with various domestic and international artists and has performed in gallery spaces engaging in projection and technology. Tai performed at the NGV in 'Spotlight on Shadows' choreographed by Shinjita Roy for a VIP sponsor audience. She was involved in Victoria Chiu’s international collaboration 'Virtual Crossings' bringing dancers and technology driven artists together in a new form of virtual performance via motion capture. This project involved The University of Melbourne, Cie Gilles Jobin Contemporary Dance Company in Geneva, Switzerland and digital architects in Auckland, New Zealand. Tai has been in collaboration with Banyule Artist Jutta Pryor over the last three years working on various projects for international artists and Banyule events. Tai and Jutta formed a collaborative group with double bassist Scott Dunbabin and flautist Megan Kenny creating various projects, 'Realities' for Banyule’s Reels on Wheels and 'Spider Dance' for the first official Banyule Open Studios performance night Light after Dark.

12 years of dance training at Diamond Valley Dance Academy (Cecchetti ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and acrobatics)

Completed Cecchetti Ballet exams Grade 1 to Advanced 2.

Completed ATOD (Australian Teachers of Dancing) contemporary exams level 2 to 5 and Advanced Jazz.

3 years of intensive contemporary dance training at Transit Dance (Origins extension program)
