An exhibition of small textile works by Pinpoint artist, Anna Farago
Stitching Place contemplates the memories of being within visited places. Each work alludes to a ‘fleeting moment’, of both being there and being remembered later, and conveys this lingering effect through fractured shape and colour. Each stitched image is an intimate memory and object, often hinting at aspects of human presence through road signs, tents or fences within the bush, coast or open pastures.
Hand stitching is a focused way of making, creating private space around the concentrated attention of doing. The works are deliberately small and fragile, made on and for the interstices of the everyday, and stitched while on the train, with a cup of tea at the end of the day, or during a craft evening with friends. In their use of recycled fabric offcuts they reflect what 70s feminist artist Miriam Shipiro might call ‘femmage’. The idea of ‘place’ grounds the location of the memories and identifies the landscapes that occupy the works.

River of Plenty presents...
Home Truths is an exploration of the notion of home. Home as the physical, the domestic, and the everyday. The house we live in and our body we inhabit. Our sense of identity, belonging and be - longing. Home as an internal space, home as a healing journey, home as loss, conflict and emergence. Home as a place to return to and a place to run from. Home that holds and bears witness to all that is inside. Home that holds us: the womb, the room and the tomb. Home as a
place that holds memories and spirits of ancestors.
Taking place in a suburban house in outer Melbourne, Home Truths is a collection of interactive installation, performance, ceremony, dance, painting, sculpture, sound, conversation, workshop and soirée. Home Truths allows space for reflection, expression and connection to all those who choose to enter.
Be led down the garden path, to the chook shed, the bedroom and kitchen, to laugh...to experience interactive, installation-performances of sounds and objects and perhaps some torches.

Centred around Art therapy and the faith that creativity is a solid foundation for healing, the centre has been responsible for offering workshops and consultations including basket weaving, dance, percussion, art, creative meditation, pranic healing, bush flower essences and more.

Artist Chris Humphries will be stationed along the banks of the Yarra River in Lower Plenty, creating a series of new works based on the beauty of the natural environment.
Chris creates drawings with marker on Perspex, and installs them outside among the natural environment his works represent. The transparency of the Perspex blurs the lines between the artworks and the natural surroundings, and offers the viewer new ways at looking at both elements.
When: Friday 8 July, 7pm – 9pm.
Where: Hatch Contemporary Arts Space, 14 Ivanhoe Parade, Ivanhoe.
Register online to secure your performance time.
A limited number of walk-in performance slots will also be available on the night.

The much loved Leigh Conkie sculptures in Greensborough War Memorial Park are coming to the end of their functional life.
Chainsaw carver, Leigh and artist-blacksmith Roland Dannenhauer will be working together over the next 18 months to design and create new sculptures to replace them.
This launch event begins a conversation with the community about how we say farewell to the existing sculptures and what we put in their place. Homefront acknowledges and celebrates the resilience of service men and women, their families and communities, as they rebuild their lives and relationships when they return home.
