    Unfinished Business / Re-Create : EXHIBITION, FREE, INSTALLATION

    An exhibition showcasing sustainable art practice by two community groups:


    Unfinished Business by Textile Art Community 

    In last few months of 2017, Textile Art Community collected all manner of unfinished art and craft projects, and unused materials donated by people around Banyule, then documented their stories, and invited artists and makers to pick a project to transform into a finished artwork. Come and see the process and results of this wonderful initiative and join in a few crafting workshops with Textile Art Community!

    Re-Create by Victorian Woodworkers Association

    The Victorian Woodworkers Association return to Hatch with an exhibition of furniture and fine woodworking.  All the pieces in this exhibition have been created from waste materials – wood that has been rescued or found, and upcycled into beautiful, useful objects. 

    Opening Night: Wednsday 7 Februry 2018, 6pm - 8pm
    Exhibtion runs until 3 March 2018

    Making Ephemeral Art

    The first in a series of professional development workshops in 2018 for artists and creatives in Banyule.

    This workshop looks at the process of creating high-impact, deliverable, short-term public art.
    Where, when, why and with whom might you create work within the public realm - and what principles are crucial regardless of  scale or budget? If you're interested in including active interpretation of public spaces into your practice this workshop is for you.

    Creative Practice or Creative Business?

    This workshop explores the essentials of approaching the business end of working as a creative practitioner. Invoicing & ABNs, insurance & Public Liability, getting auspiced, writing risk assessments… like it or not, these are realities for all creative practitioners who want to be paid for their work.


    Suitable for anybody interested in engaging with Council's Arts & Culture Program - i.e., performing at our festivals, delivering a public workshop or art activity, applying for a Pinpoint Art in Public Spaces Grant or a Community Arts Grant - this session includes presenters from Council's Risk / OH&S Services team and Selene Bateman from Auspicous Arts Projects.
